What is MiCalmare?

Michigan Calmare or “My Calm” (in Italian).  Calmare is a neuromodulator device that sends a “no pain” signal along the pain pathways to the brain via the spinal cord to let your brain know there is no need to keep sending that “There’s Pain!” signal.

Who is helped by Calmare?

Anyone who may suffer from chronic pain after the original injury has healed.  For example, say you have had back surgery once, twice or more, but the pain is still there.  We call this Failed Back Syndrome because the surgeries have not helped improve the pain but you are still suffering from a pain message to the brain saying “Yes, there’s still pain.”  Calmare is applied to non-painful areas near the painful spot(s) on your back with surface electrodes, the machine dials are turned on sending a small electrical signal using 16 different algorithms that travel along the spinal cord to the brain with a “no pain” message.

Another example might be a broken bone in the foot that was treated and from all medical standpoints has healed, but the foot is still swollen, red or purple and is sensitive to touch.  This can be known as a condition called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) now known as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS).  In other words, the brain is still receiving the message that there is pain in that foot, even though the bone has healed.

Calmare also works for fibromyalgia, migraines, phantom limb pain, cancer pain, chemo-induced neuropathy, diabetic neuropathy, neuropathy of any other type in the body and so much more.

How many treatments are recommended?

We have found the most success with 10 treatments.  Some people need a few less, some a few more – just to make sure the brain continues to receive the “no pain” signal and the pain can stay gone.
